Pastor Steve Ramsden

  • Favorite Verse:
Romans 8:1 That verse changed my life. It freeded me from Satan's false accusations, and helped me realize how much Jesus Christ had done for me on the Cross.
  • Where were you born?
I was born in Chicago; so yes I am a Bears fan, and yes I am a Cubs fan, and yes I am a Blackhawks, and Bull's fan.
  • When and/or where you saved
My parents were very involved in Christianity all my life, and I made a decision at a very young age to follow God.  However, I built my own way of salvation, of just being good like Christians should so people would think I was a believer.  During my teen years I didn't walk away from God, I just didn't walk with Him.  But, God had not forgotten about me, and so He sent me a wake up call. I had a fluke accident which nearly cost me my life and I ended up in the hospital not expected to live. I was in a coma for about a week. I remember waking up in the hospital and realizing how close I came to dying and spending eternity in hell because I had built my own salvation instead of accepting God's way, and it shook me to the core. Not long after that I accepted His Way of Salvation, and my life has never been the same.
  • What is your favorite book?
My family loved to read books when I was growing up, and so I read all the western cowboy books, and the Tarzan series, and a few comic books in between. But I was amazed when I read C.S.Lewis. He was so creative in his writings. They stretched your mind. "The Screwtape Letters" was such an awaking for me on connecting God with creative writing.
  • What kind of education do you have?
I went to Baptist Bible College, but did not finish my degree there. I received my Bachelor Degree at Trinity in Deerfield, IL.
  • What is your work background like?
I have just about worked every job under the sun. My jobs included; carpet cleaner, busboy, dish washer, factory worker, general labor for a fence company, general labor for a cement company, gas station attendant, school teacher, Associate pastor, Interim Pastor, and five different sales jobs.
  • Do you have any hobbies?
I love all sports, but i would say my greatest love in a hobby is hunting and fishing.
  • What makes you unique?
One day the Lord showed me that he had gifted me to teach God's word. In that moment of awakening it dawned on me that He had equipped me to teach His word with the capability to succeed and He was entrusting it to me. It was as if He had stepped up to me and given me this great sword to go to battle with, and in the entrusting of it to me He had also given me the confidence to finish the task.
