of or pertaining to relations; of or relating to kinship; characterized or constituted by relationships
Relationships are what life is all about. God is Love and God is Light and the greatest light (truth) He shines is that He loves us and wants a never-ending relationship with us.
Think about that…God, the creator of everything we know…the One who starts and sustains life…wants a relationship with me. And He would do everything it took to make that happen! Leave heaven…become human…live life like us…die for us…only to live again…because He’s God…because He loves!
Relationships are about friendship, family, community. All the best things in life are connected to relationships.
That’s why CBC values relationships as much as we do. We value it that way God does.
The truth (light) is…loving God and loving each other is the greatest life we can live.
Relevant
rel·e·vant
[rel-uh-vuhnt]
adjective
bearing upon or connected with the matter in hand; pertinent: a relevant remark.
Being real is being yourself. Being relational is being yourself with others. Being relevant is meeting others where they are at…no judgments, no expectations…with God’s Love (unconditional) and Light (truth).
Relevance points to where I am in life. God wants to meet us at that place…right where I am today and every day. He knows it’s the best place to be real and relational.
Our church’s hope is that anyone and everyone who comes can be themselves (real) and find deep connections with God and other Christians (relational) and find purpose and passion (relevant) in life.
At Community Bible Church we passionately pursue being real.
Being real is simply being yourself. Feeling comfortable enough to be the real you and knowing that is enough...no judgment from those around you, just acceptance.
Being real includes our strengths and struggles...our beauties and blemishes. It includes knowing and being known by others...warts and all. It does not include faking or putting up a front or even the need for it.
Some come to our church hurting. Some come hardened. Some come searching. Some come confused. Some come to us with great passion. Some come with hope...some come utterly hopeless. We just want them to come...be themselves...and know they are loved...one real person to another.
Words like “authentic” and “transparent” have been used to try and describe what it means to be real. Good words that point in the right direction but we like the word real. It’s simple, easy to understand. It’s earthy and relatable. It’s what we value at CBC
You be you and I’ll be me. That’s real...that’s CBC!
