Current and Upcoming Series

  • What should I wear?

The simple answer is "Clothes." We don't have a dress code or requirement to fit in. People come in shorts, jeans, t-shirts, casual dress and sometimes even a suit and tie. Feel free to dress as you like (within limits of modesty). We won't judge you based on what you wear.
  • What kind of music do you have?

If you are expecting a piano, organ and a full choir we might not be the church for you. We use contemporary music, but maintain a link to our history by including Hymns (some traditional arrangements and some updated arrangements) in our regular worship.  Each of our services is a unique experience, music ranges from a single guitar and vocalist, to a full rhythm section (Guitar, Drums, Bass, Keyboard and Vocalists).
  • Do I need to bring a Bible?

Many of the people who attend Community Bible Church bring a bible with them. Some prefer a printed Bible and while others prefer an electronic version such as the youVersion. We encourage everyone to read the Bible on their own, but we also put most of the verses used in the message on the screen during the message.
    • Which translation of the Bible do you use

      All of them

Meet Our Pastor - Jake Swader

Jake and Laura  Jake is passionate about the Word of God, making disciples for Jesus Christ, and seeing the church come together in unity as the Body of Christ. In 1997, while pursuing a degree in Journalism, he felt the distinct call of the Lord on his life into full-time ministry. Following that call, Jake studied Ministerial Studies at Bethel Bible College and the Hampton Master’s Commission in Hampton, Va. It was there that he met his wife, Laura. They were married in August of 2000 and now have four children: Jeremiah, Mackenzie, (son-in-law Simeon), Kaleb, Nathan, and grandson Everett. Both Jake and Laura are Rockford area natives.
